BECAUSE THEY PLAYED LIKE WINNERS !!! they played like grand masters.they had the best defense,they had offence , they played with determination even with the bad calls against them like that pk goal by zizu in the final & that luca toni goal that was disallowed THAT WAS A FAIR GOAL !
& THEY WON WITH TEAM WORK & " CLASS " !!!!

This is actually a pretty easy question because Italy have been playing the same style of soccer for many years.
They have aggresive players in the back that don´t play pretty soccer but they will keep the 0 in the back.
Midfielders that run like crazy and have an excellent technique.
Front players that are smart and very deadly when you give them a chance in the box.
And last but certainly not least.....patience,the patience to wait on that 1-0 in the 86th minute....and having faith in your teammates.
That is how a good team is made.
