Become involved with a group that supports your point of view. Start a group if none exists. Learn the democratic process. Work with your state legislator to effect legislation.

I think you actually need a permitt for public protest (I'd check at local state website to be sure). I'd make sure theres not so huge group of people who knows each other sort of and try to keep the crowd under control. It would suck to have couple punks start things with police and they beat up everybody.

You can write your congressman, arrange a demonstration (usually through your local police), write a letter to the newspaper, start a blog. All you have to do is not start a riot.
