as the mafia falls and the street gangs grow, why does the government persist on focusing on gotti??

not that I am a fan of gotti's but it seems to me that the prosecutors would rather waste our money on the government putting away gotti, who's trial was deadlocked 3x, than they are interested in getting the street gangs who kill anyone and sell and do drugs. There are 4 street gangs in my son's school alone and nobody sees this as a problem??

I think there's a huge psychological divide now between the government and the people.
The people expect the government to do things for them, not realizing that they are supposed to BE the government, and be active in it.
And the government picks up on this, and considers itself ever more separate from the people.
And these two problems exacerbate each other in a vicious-type cycle.

I think the government ought to do more about street gangs, but they aren't doing it. If you want to free the areas you live in from gang control, then it is not only the right, but the duty of the people of those areas to step up and remmove them.
I know I can't STAND the type of ignorant, mean and warped people who ascend to the top of the gang power structure. I would move away or die fighting before I ever paid them a cent in territorial tributes!

Real people always outnumber the thugs who oppress them; no gang could stand a coherent uprising in its territory.

Umm, you do know that street gangs were a part of the mafia, right? Organized crime, not matter what name it is given today. You keep at the "big boys" until they fall completely. Look at how long it took to get Capone.
There will always be young kids looking for acceptance. Gangs are it, especially drug gangs. You as the parent are the best defense for your child.
Gang Member = a boy who hasn't met a real man.

the only reason they are after him is because of the taxable income they could of been getting. He has been making all this money and not paying taxes or payoffs. The small time gangs aren't big money makers.

What is your local law enforcement doing about the gangs? It is a local problem. We pay enough local taxes, so someone should be doing something. I would start there.

crime is dropping in big cities like la and ny but the gangs and mobsters have moved to smaller citiies like mine. crime is rising in once small town farm america.
