They are hard in that they test your total expected knowledge and skills over a test that takes about 4 hours to take. There are courses that prepare you for the SAT's, and to give you an idea or benchmark, the course costs about $650, and they usually have a waiting list. The SAT score is one of the main determining factors as to what college level you can get into, such as community college or state or private. Most people/students take the SAT's at least two times, once as a sophomore and once,or even twice as a junior.

Hey Hon,
Yes they are! I took them when I was in school, I graduated in 2003. Our school is supposed to be a class a school, and all the teachers said they were preparing us for the S.A.T.'s. They also said that they should be easy. But there were questions on there that I'd never heard of or studied about the subject before!

Hope this helps!

The math is a little bit hard, but the reading and writing are fairly simple if you are a good reader and have a basic understanding of grammar.

The hardest part is staying motivated and on task at the end, and being able to concentrate hard enough to do the last couple sections.

I didn't think they were that hard. I got a 1600 on it when I took it in 7th grade. Not a very high score, so I hope I'll do better when I get to high school. But again, the questions didn't seems too hard.

the questions themselves aren't that difficult. individually, you'd probably get most of them right. the tough part is doing hundreds at a time.
know basic algebra, be able to understand literature, and have a good knowlege of the english language. if you do, you'll be fine.
i recommend reading books and taking practice tests. don't bother with prep courses.
