i think my ex husband is going to try. his new wife is making waves over child support and i have a feeling he has something up his sleeve. my child is well taken care of, fed, has a home and my mother keeps his while i work full time so he doesnt have to go to day care. i am worried sick, i dont have money for a lawyer. suggestions or comments?

Document everything. Don't let them scare you. You can get advice from an attorney for free. There's a lot of organizations out there that will help you if you're a good parent.

Unless it can be proved (not by opinion of him) to a high degree of scrutiny that you aren't a good parent, then the best he can hope for is joint custody.

If you kids are fed, safe, healthy and attending school (if of age), you needn't worry yourself. He is just having control issues!

I tried the same thing while a Texas resident...and lost!

Crystal,calm down your X , has no chance of taken your child be it in Texas,or any of the 49 states,mothers rights prevail when it comes to her children.

All states are geared towards the child staying with the mother. Unless you have some sort of criminal background, or are otherwise similarly deemed unfit, you should not have anything to worry about.

Unless you are a crack head who abuses her own children, most likely he will not win. Texas is big on mothers keeping the children.
