I am trying to research areas to live that are close to museums, theater, art shops, close to a college, and most of all a place of with lots of culture. Does anyone know of any good ideas or even a website of which i could put in what i am looking for? Place with not so hot summers, moderate winters, lots of outdoors activities and close to the arts...a place where an artist could thrive.

Seattle, WA sounds like the perfect place.
Better yet .... Bellingham, WA.

Bellingham is 90 minutes from Seattle and 60 minutes from Vancouver, B.C. ... both of which are cultural centers. Bellingham itself has a lot of the things you are looking for too, and the cost of living is a lot less than Seattle. It's a small city of about 75,000, but quaint, culturally diverse, has its own art and theater scene, an excellent university and a community college.

The scenery is beyond compare, and outdoor activities year round ... from water skiing to snow skiing, horseback riding, snow boarding, boating, swimming, hiking, biking, just about anything.

I can't think of a better place to live, especially with the proximity also to Seattle and Vancouver, BC.
