As a student of philosophy, my goal is to study and understand everything I can. That should be the goal of all students of modern, ancient, or any kind of philosophy.

The role of an academic philosopher is to teach, give one or two simple (recurring) lectures a day for a nice salary. The rest of the time is spent writing their latest paper or book. They have found a comfortable niche in life and have ceased searching. They no longer deserve the title.
