Last year our sat dish was hit by lighting and it ruined the sky box we were insured so it was replaced. So now we disconnect the t.v and the sky ariel to be safe and it worked, also it only takes seconds so it is worth it. hope this helps.

personaly i dont but if you want to sure you can. The only thing that ahppens on a thundderstorm over here where i live is the sky picture goes haywire. Last year my house was hit by lightening and it took down my router but my sky and TV survived. I think they must have a anti surge in them or something (probably do mind you).

a protracted adequate radio wave could desire to wrap itself 0.5 way around a planet or nicely-conventional individual and yet go backward and forward in a in the present day away line. despite if this style of long wave could desire to hold sensible preparation is yet yet another count. Radio waves are electromagnetic waves so they're made out of photons which will fan out from the source, so the sign will replace into weaker with increasing distance different than narrowly beamed. So radio waves from the 1900s could have weakened appreciably, by skill of utilising an quantity inversely proportional to the sq. of the hollow travelled. Beaming a radio wave from a parabolic reflector might preserve a bigger sign skill over a bigger distance, yet might could desire to be properly geared interior the path of any receiver shifting obtainable indoors the depths of area. If the receiver is shifting away or interior the path of the transmitter, the radio wave could be pink shifted or blue shifted respectively.
