The diffrence between them is that the web developer doesn't make the pictures. A graphic desiner does that part. So basicly a web developer has the ideas and makes the words and all that other stuff, but the graphic desiner was trained to draw and draw only.

Web Designer: A person who made the Design of The web site knows as web designer. Web developer: A person who develop the website in a specif programming language is known as web developer.

Sort of like an architect and a construction company. One designs what everything should look like, the other builds it. Sometimes though, as far as a website is concerned, one person has experience doing both. Your more expensive firms will have designers with advertising background,degrees who know how to effectively layout a site but know very little about programming. They leave the programming to the geeks in a dimly lit back room--slipping food & water items from time to time through a slot in the door so as not to interrupt their programming time.

Basically graphic designer is the one that do all the layout works for a site and makes it looks nicer they usually deal with softwares like Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, CorelDraw etc..etc..

while the web developer more concerns about the logical,technical aspects of the web sites such as working with databases, they usually deal with web programming languages such as ASP,PHP,.NET etc...etc..
