Is it the most liberal state?

On the same note, is it the one of the most expensive states to try to live in?

While not a state, Washington DC is clearly the most democratic part of the country.

Cali, DC, NYC, MA, etc. are all liberal and all expensive places to live. But they're awesome.

Yup. im from Los Angeles, Ca.. Not exactly from there but a smaller city near the Beach... very expensive to live. Depending on what city you want to live in.. and if you are renting a house, apartment, townhouse or condo... But i love it there and wouldnt live any where else but there

Meh... I live in California and I don't have to pay that much to live here. I've lived in other places outside and around the country, and they've been WAY too expensive.

I wouldn't say more liberal...just better educated people making rational decisions. I would say the ignorance level is really low there.

Yes it is expensive to live there. Therefore, you better be intelligent enough to get a high paying job to afford the mortgage or rent.
