my daughters band is playing this song and she wants to know where the title of the song came from. thanks

It was the time just before they wrote the song.
Someone asked and was told It's 25 or 26 minutes to four.

Robert Lamm (of Chicago) states (about 25 or 6 to 4): It is a reference to the time of day. The song is about writing a song. It's not mystical.

Many different theories on this one. The legend goes that it is a reference to drugs - the "recipe" for LSD, while there are other theories that it is about a songwriter with writer's block and it is a reference to the time in the wee early morning hours (this is the official Chicago stance per their website). The title is a reference to how long in hours an acid trip will last....the song itself is about tripping on acid
