For somethings yes but for others no. Unfortunately life is very competitive, especially the job market, If a person is not used to being competitive then they may lose out.
Of course sport would be a waste of time without competition.

Competition is a mistaken idea. We survive in the long term by cooperating with our environment. A few always take advantage of the weaker members for their own goals, and they then appear to excell through competition, but in the really long term, competition with each other or Nature is always a losing battle for both sides.
Being competitive is a 'good' thing in a short-term competitive society, but in the long term, all competitive societies end up eating themselves out of their environment.

Of course it is , without a competitive spirit there would be no commerce , no jobs , no-one would want to make anything of themselves = no food , no homes , no children , no life . If people didn't want to get more then they would have nothing , we are born competitive otherwise we would never learn anything , never cry , never eat solid food , never crawl , never walk , never run , never talk and never try anything to increase ourselves .
Being over competitive is the bad thing , nothing wrong with healthy competition .

People need to learn to lose - many schools have taken the element of competition out of things like school sports as they say this gives everyone a chance to achieve, but kids are inherently competitive anyway. It's in their nature to want to compare themselves to others. Life is full of competition and kids need to learn to pick themselves up after a failure.

Yes I think it makes you a better person, as long as you keep it under control, war is often competitive, so is religion, both are man made, both make a profit, and both are the cause of many deaths, it can also lead to crime, trying to keep up with your mates

Faires are very polite, but some of us are a little competitive. Take me for example.... I'm the prettiest fairy princess of them all, but I tell the trolls that it's not really a competition.

Thank you so much for asking. My answer is sooooo much better than any of the others, so you will pick mine as best answer won't you? Flutter flutter ...... wings a go-go.... flutter?

It can be to a point. Competitiveness helps you to perform well in many areas of your life. It helps you be successful. It can also be detrimental if it causes you to stress over every failure or loss in your life.

Depends on the situation, never compete with anyone to prove a point, you have nothing to prove to anyone except yourself.
