When I come home or into the bedroom they are watching shows with sexual content, profanity, violence, or complete tastelessness. What should I do assuming that I don't like those shows, believe they should not be watched by a 10 year old, and I have no intention or need to sit down and join them?

talk to your wife and let her know how you feel about the show(s) they're watching. Make her aware of some of the things being shown that are not appropriate for your daughter, because sometimes we forget that our kids are just that (kids) not another adult. I think that if she realized what she was actually having her daughter watch and what bad habits she could pick up she would stop. Talk to you wife. Good luck

YES-Have a nice little talk with your wife! I suggest sitting down and discussing how the day went for about an hour each day if you can! Like a coffee break-nice discussion at the table just the two of you! By all means in a nice way tell her how you feel and suggest something that would more appropriate for the two of them to do or perhaps as a family! Be nice and discuss any thing that you want to and listen to each other before any big problems like this arise! You do have reason to be concerned that your daughter is watching things that a 10 year old should not be watching! If you have to you can remove the t.v. out of the house or at least tell her you will if you have to -if she will not listen to you. Be nice about it all because you want everything to work out well with your family!

depends, can you give us some examples of the shows and content we are talking about here. 2 possibilities,
1. Your wife could be a bad parent and is exposing your child to bad content
2. You could be a typical parent. Overprotective, and thinks that content is to inappropriate. This is typical, this does not make you a bad parent, it would just mean that your missing the good old days when your child called you daddy and sat on your lap. If this is the case, think of it this way, Depending on your child and where you live and the kind of people you are arround. Your child will reach the age of consent in 5 years or less. And due to hormones will proably have sex out of curiosity within 6 years. so, its best to just talk to them about it.

Buddy you are screwed; you have no power within your own home. There is nothing you can do. I personally would recommend you take up fishing or golfing on the weekend, it will make the time go by faster. When you come home, go by yourself and read or just don't come home till late at night when it is time to go to bed. I would even recommend a mistress, a girl who will revere you. However, if you do decide to go down that road I would also recommend having your wife sign a post-nuptial agreement or if you are not in community property state then I would recommend transferring your property to yourself and your wife in unequal proportions. Or just make a clean break, withdraw all your money and move to Switzerland.

Your wife, no. Your 10 year old daughter, yes. Those things are NOT for a 10 year old to watch.

well, your wife is a grown woman, but your daughter is just a child and should not be exposed to extreme sexual content, profanity, or violence. i little bit is fine, as long as she doesnt try to copy it. as for tastelessness, who cares? shes 10, she watches stuff that you wont like, big deal.

Maybe if you relaxed and sat through a few episodes you would understand why they are watching. Seeing inappropriate stuff in a program is a good way to address the issues and open discussion with a child.

I suggest u sit down and spend time with your family and watch one of those shows, before you decide to do anything. Maybe you will end up finding something you all enjoy doing together instead of watching the boobe tube.

before you storm in and take the remote I would talk with your wife and find out why she lets your 10yo watch these inappropriate shows there must be a hidden agenda for watching such programs let alone with your daughter

if your wife is there with your daughter than whats the problem would you like them telling you what to watch telling your daughter is one thing telling your wife is another i wouldnt want antbody telling me what i could watch on tv and what i couldnt thats not right
