NOT AT ALL! AS LONG AS YOU ARE RAISING YOUR CHILDREN RIGHT AND THEY ARE NOT ABUSED, OR NEGLECTED THEN THERE IS NO REASON FOR SOCIETY TO TELL YOU HOW TO RAISE YOUR OWN CHILDREN.

(THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ABUSE AND DISCIPLINING/SPANKING/WHOOPIN YOUR CHILD!)

Yes, society DOES have the right.

However that is a different question than " IS IT RIGHT for society to dictate how you raise your children?"

For instance you may CHOOSE to raise your child in a way totally different that the culture surrounding your child.

But what will happen is that the surrounding society will either accept or reject the child - so if you want your child to be accepted, then it behooves the parent to raise the child in a manner consistent within the accepted parameters of the surrounding society.

This question requires thought and each response has pros and cons.

The parameters regarding what is acceptable and what is not are set forth in society's rules and regulations. Various codes address issues that have been established because there have been problems in the past.

Children are the adults of tomorrow. Though they are unique with their own individual strengths and weaknesses, they are raised in various cultures with various ethics and morals. Some are provided with exposure to a religion that helps to guide them and others are not. Some are exposed to various clubs that encourage good citizenship while others are not. Some are involved in team sports that can teach them about being part of a team, how to win and how to lose.

Society's rules (codes and regulations) are the house rules of public life. The parameters are usually wide with extremes on both sides (think of a wide street with sidewalks on each side). The spirit of the law/regulation/code is what most people can meet without a problem or trying too hard IF they have necessary guidance as a child.

Register to vote if you are of age and exercise that right if you are unhappy about something that pertains to these matters.

Since society has to deal with them anytime they are out of my sight, yes, to some degree I feel that society should have some input as to how kids are raised.

Yes in regards to physical and/or emotional abuse. No one should sit idly by when witnessing a parent abuse his/her kid.

No in regards to morals, values, etiquette, dress, speech, etc.
