It would get the trucks off the road immediately and we could use the taxes to pay for school programs throughout the country. Wouldn't that be great!!

I'm really serious...I'm not being sarcastic with this question. Schools are horrible and never have enough funding. We could "force" Americans to conserve, while helping the children...

Awwww...now I'm going to have to go and kill myself!! Thanks Chainsaw. I was really trying to hang onto that last thread, but you did it...you were that last straw that sent me tumbling into the arms of the devil.

Say...do you think the devil likes cheese? I know I sure do...

That is the dumbest and most ignorant thing I have ever heard. You would immediately cripple this country and we would be like a 3rd world country.

BTW, everything you buy has part of the price being fuel. How does it get to the store you buy it from?

We cannot force conservation because we are a growing economy. When the economy grows, the need for energy goes up. Learn how economics works before you ask asinine questions.

Because doing that would artificially inflate the price of pretty much everything.

Just think of a simple example - a farmer growing tomatoes. Think of all the gasoline that is used in farming the land to produce those tomatoes; the gasoline used to dust the tomato crops; the gasoline used to pick those tomatoes; the gasoline used to transport those tomatoes.

How is a farmer going to cover the increased cost of paying $10 a gallon? He will have to raise prices. So you might also be paying $10 / lb for tomatoes.

American's wouldn't be worried about "conserving", they would worry about being able to afford food for their dinner table and clothes for their backs.

Artificially inflating the price of gasoline will cause many more problems than it will solve.

i suppose they could be raised to that level. but why? whats up with the comment on trucks. do you realize that everything you consume is transported by trucks. and what about the millions of truck drivers? and i dont think by throwing a bunch of money at education it will solve the problems. it never has. i think you are a dumbasz!!!
