Pets are companions, not slaves. The word "pet" means someone or something kept for companionship and pleasure. Animals such as dogs can also be coworkers and aids to people with disabilities. In each case they are not slaves. If they don't enjoy what they are doing they will not be able to do it well. The person who feels their pet is just an object of property is a fool and is missing out on most of the enjoyment that can be gained by a good relationship with an animal.

They wouldn't make very good slaves anyway. Unless you can train a cat to wash dishes for you or teach your fishes to change the oil in your car. You can teach a dog to fetch the mail from the door slot and guard the house. Animals can't truly be slaves.

Pets aren't slaves. Some of them might be domesticated to the point of living peacefully with humans or helping us because we train them to work and help us. But they should never be considered slaves. They have feelings. Humans are animals and we have feelings, so do our pets.

Animals such as dogs and cats are domesticated animals, meaning mankind has changed them enough through breeding that they cannot (generally) survive on their own. A good example is a house cat; while a domestic cat is capable of killing something it could eat, most domestic cats have no idea what to do with the creature after they have killed it! This being the case, I believe that humane treatment of a domestic animal by a human being is the best answer, and benefits both people and pets.

I also really like to write! Since I was little everyone's always told me how good I was at coming up with stories. Whenever I'm stuck for a topic I go out and look for inspiration, or I just think of two people having a funny conversation and start making up characters and the setting and what not! c: But that's just me.. Sometimes I just look at something and somebody and start thinking of a story. Topics for writing are hard to think of sometimes. Here. I'll think of some topics real quick! ^~^ aha! A Girl Mage (wizard) who has fire/water (optional) power. >Insert Conflict< A boy who lives in a desert city (post-Apocolyptic) Conflict: War, Disease.... If you haven't noticed I kind of enjoy reading and writing about Disaster and stuff I like stuff with action! Boy meets Girl (if your into that kind of story) Or a Nanny who works in New York..I think you could make any story enjoyable to read if you add humor to it. :c Good luck! :) ~let your imagination flow ( so cheesy)

I assume you mean "Should they have work to do?"

Absolutely. A happy dog is one that gets attention and training and has things to do. If you've ever seen a dog working sheep, you can't doubt that they enjoy the work.

Cats are even happier if you play with them and teach them tricks. It gives structure to their day and let them know they are important to you.

If you mean should pets be chained like slaves, no. If you can't give your pet a measure of freedom in your own house and yard, you shouldn't have a pet.

Are you crazy? They should NOT be our slaves they deserve our respect and care. You want to conquer something try climbing a mountain somewhere. What right does anyone have to make anything do their bidding.
