I cut pictures from magazines, books, newspapers whatever I find. I use them in some of my drawings and paintings.
My question is, Should I be keeping a log of where all the scraps are from and who created what? (-In the hopes that I will someday sell something I've created.) Is that a good idea or am I just being anal and creating a lot of extra work for myself?

I think it would depend on how much of the picture you used. If it is recognizable as someone else's work, it is probably copyrighted and you may need permission to use it. If it is only a fragment, I think you'd be all right to use it. Just to be on the safe side, record the source if it is recognizable. I like doing collages and multi-media too .
