yeah most people just call them star bits cause of there shape and they dont know they are called torx bits

Torx is a trademark. So other manufacturers building sockets for Torx bolts can't use the word Torx and have to call their sockets "star" type instead.

I thought they were the same thing. torx being the general brand id name for the socket.

diferent shapes---- cant realy describe it any diferences- everbody that is mking tools is coming up with diffferent gimmicks these days with screw drivers dimesions etc..
