If I were you I would get books on the subject and first learn how to draw the way animators do...there's a college in LA that teaches animation as well as computer animation

Check out the art schools around the country that have programs in this field. Also some Universities. You will need training.

You should buy Motion Artist 3.0 from Circuit City. It teaches you how to do basic animation.

You should go to college. John Heder, the guy that played Napolean Dynamite, was in 3-D animation at Brigham Young.
