Your question is kind of vague but Stiching of the uterus is a pretty common way of prolonging a difficult pregnancy. i had it done myself about a year ago. A common name is call purse string if that helps, and that's basically what it is>

i've heard of a cercelage which is a clamp placed on the cervix if it doesn't close properly while pregnant. you didnt leave many details to go on.
