I am currently writing a essay for my sociology class about how America has become fascist, or at the very least a corporatist where the companies are the actual rulers of this country. I honestly don't feel it matters what person or party you vote for (D or R) because the CEO's of the major companies are the real rulers "man behind the curtain."

Absolutely it has become facist under the present administration.

All the signs are there. I saw it comming when Bush was running for president the first time he used the same tactics that Hitler did back in the 30's. Which is to let only people that are already pro-bush into his rallies. That way there would be no desention, and the media would only see great chearing.

That scared the hell out of me. I'm glad the media and others are starting to realize how much this president had screwed up this country and his "war on terror"

So long as we continue to have free elections, we are not becoming fascist. I am curious as to who chose this topic for your essay. If your teacher did, you are being brainwashed. Most of your points are conclusionary - not objective propositions. I would suggest that you take just a few of your "points" and try to support them with facts objectively. You will probably come to the conclusion that they are either wrong or irrelevant. Good luck.

Whatever. I know I've never done these things at such a major extent. And I'm sure not many other people have, either. Also, I have a good many friends who do NOT disdain intellectuals and the arts, so yeah.

Yes, sadly the US is turning or already has become fascist. A great deal rides on the upcoming elections.

"Fascism should be called corporatism, since Fascism is the merger of state and corporations."

You don't leave much room to give an answer. However, how about this as #15: the use of the word 'liberal' as pejorative.

I think we are headed in that direction and what I personally fear is that half of the population supports it.

What you call corporatist is totalitarianism. And yes, you are right in your observations.
