I don't know if this question is meant for me since the only chore my spouse tended to was cleaning his car to get ready for his next solo ski trip (4x a week) so now he is my ex (for 5 yrs now). Ideally, they would do everything since that's what we do. However, if a guy picks up his own dirty clothes, takes the trash out, mows the lawn, washes my car for me or makes dinner once in a while I am satisfied. Not impressed, satisfied. Of course I don't think any man in a relationship has done all of those things in one day. That might be asking too much.

I am the handy man, electrician , plumber , carpenter general repairman. I also have all the big jobs. Fixing up a 100 + yr old house that she loves. Stripped off linoleum and refinished wood floors replaced plaster walls and fixed ceilings, insulate in the attic, reinforce the floor joist add ed outlets ext.ext. I have done more too this house in ten yrs. the was done in the last 50.
I am always busy with some big projects, example is building a 3 car garage, tilling and planting a new lawn, This take a lot of time that would usually be free time, I also use many "vacation" days to work at home. My wife works also away from home ,but has every weekend .every holiday and all summer off.
She has no problem with NOT helping me, and leaves to run with her friend every Saturday.
Has now just started to make one meal for Sat. and One for Sunday, During the week she half heartily makes a evening meal. We have one child left at home , and he helps a lot also.
I really don't see her knocking herself out ,unless of course company is coming over.

I am not a guy and I don't have a spouse yet. I will in 6 more days I have written into our wedding vows that he does have to take out the garbage and he has written in that I have to clean my make up off the bathroom counter.
We split the chores fairly even. He hates to cook but I love to .. So i cook and he will do the dishes. I will wash and dry clothes and he put them away his and fold mine. We are both not the neatest people in the worl so we do have to do a run thur of the house in the morning or evening picking up shoes or bringing dishes into the kitchen but it is fairly even. I don't mind that he uses the excuse that he is a man to avoid anything decroation ideas and he don't mind me telling him No when if comes to him buy off the wall electronics. I don't bribe him with sex and he don't beg for it so it works out pretty good ..

Despite arguments to the contrary there are some jobs better suited to be done by gender, at least in our household. I do most of the outdoor work while she does most of the indoor work. Cutting grass...working on cars...taking care of the house are my jobs. Cooking...laundry..."deep" cleaning the house are hers. Together we do the dishes...and "quick" clean the house. I do handle bathroom cleaning since she hates to do it. It doesn't hurt a man to help around the house and if the wife works outside the home then he damn well better help with chores.

My husband and I don't split up chores by gender, he does the things I hate and I do the things he hates. Then we split the chores we both don't mind. If my husband tried to tell me "its a job for women" there would definately be problems.

Men think that female jobs are roles inside the house like laundry, dishes, cleaning anything, dusting, vaccuming. Male jobs seem to be trash, repairs, outside maintanence, cars, anything involving muscles and strength.

I have to admit that I was brought up in the late 50's and early
60's so It's more or less the way I have always been , to be the care taker and home maker . Never the less I am happy !

Yes my little lady and I have our own jobs around the place. We call them Blue jobs and Pink jobs!
Examples of Blue jobs...... Mowing the grass, putting out the garbage on Bin nights, washing the cars and drying the dishes. Oh almost forgot ...... keeping her happy in bed!!
Examples of Pink jobs.....washing the clothes, cooking the dinner etc, washing the dishes and keeping the house looking neat and tidy. oh almost forgot......she keeps me happy in bed too!!
You get my drift?? We still get along just fine.
