The reason I ask is I have read some questions and answers that suggest it. Some white people complain about affirmative action, BET and the united ***** college fund. They complain on this site that if they started something just for white people, they will be called racist. You want to know what I think of that? I think they are too worried about what other people think to do anything about their complaints, because I could care less what kind of organization they start. I wouldn't think it is racist to have WET. Just redundant.
Another thing I noticed is some white people are afriad to describe someone by the color of their skin. They are afraid to say "that black girl" or "that black guy". What are they so afriad of? I don't get offended if someone calls me black. I am black! So are some white people too afraid? And yes, I know that white pride is considered racist, but whose fault is that? Not the minorities.

The simple answer to your question (in my opinion) is "Yes".

I'm white, and hear a lot of comments about black people from other white people. Both of my parents were racist, so I was raised with that kind of mentality. I remember as a child thinking about how stupid that mentality was. I was also raised a Christian, and still can't reconcile that attitude with the teachings of the Bible.

My ex-girlfriend is black, and I gained an appreciation of how tolerant black people are. She was also raised a Christian, and was taught exactly opposite. Her parents always told her to love all people because that was what Jesus said.

I think racism is caused by ignorance, and people fear what they don't understand.

First of all wasn't BET formally own by whites? Second, getting upset of at the united ***** college fund association is pure ridiculous. Why be upset over something that helps minorities, all minorities, get a good education. United ***** fund helps all minority not just Blacks, but you know some closet racist don't want see minority prosper and are afraid they will come to be more educated and skilled than they could ever hope to be. As for white being afraid of describing a black person or calling them black in conversation with a black person, well frankly they're just nervous that they will offend you which is good because its show how much they respect you and your feelings. A lot the way we describe ourselves today I think is a bit confusing to some and they're just not sure what is or isn't politically the right mannerism to say it to you.

I don't think most people are afraid of the minorities, so to speak. I think it's more that in this day and age most white people know that they are watched by every other race for the slightest screw up they may perform. Affirmative action is no longer needed, seeing as black people (OMG I said black) are 100% equal. Now it is just a matter of time for people to work out all their personal racist thoughts, and that needs to be done on all sides. Now it is not just a matter of worrying about other peoples thoughts if we were to start something just for white people, I known damn good and well if any club, organization, benefit, etc, were to be started for the white race, it would be called racist and be forced to out of commission. I personally think that the united ***** fund and any other organization meant for one race are racist. What makes any of you so special that you got to exclude a whole series of races? And BTW sweetheart, white pride is considered racist in modern times because the slightest sight of it brings some cry baby out to the spot light to cry racism. Protest after protest i guarantee. Any reason like whites owned slaves, whites never allowed black voting, separation of races by whites, and any other thing in the past is exactly what it is..... IN THE PAST!!! Get over it.

I am also a black women and proud of it and I do agree with you about some of these white people.

People in general should be proud of who they are and should not be able to admit if someone is black, white, Asian, or hispanic. You made a good point, if someone identifies me as being a black women I would agree with them because this is what I am.

If I see someone walking in the street that happens to be Asian, I would say this Asian man or women or white whatever.. What is the big deal? This racism thing is so stupid and unfortunately it will never ever go away. I personally do not care about racists people, my concern is my family and that is basically it.

Racists people have serious issues and they are going to keep hating and there is nothing that anyone can do...

I totally agree. I think they are afraid because they don't know anything about us. They talk all this crap that makes no sense at all. They don't understand black people either. Again I am going to say that black history needs to be required in school. They say why are there black colleges. Do they not know that blacks weren't allowed to go to school back in the day so they started their own schools? They say why do we have BET and if they had WET there would be a problem. C'mon people white people own every tv station but BET. BET is all we have, it was founded by a black man. They just need to be educated.

They talk about BET as if blacks form a union to create them a station.

If it's just because a black GUY made one, then no. Because the only reason blacks have one was because of racism. 20 years ago Blacks were NOT shown on TV or things blacks wanted to see. So instead of complaining blacks are unrepresented in television someone makes a station just for that. Many people who start any business do so because their is a need for it. Their is no need for a station call WET because white people are well represented in TV. Seems it's just because blacks have one they should. Like Lifetime a station for women, because women want to see things for women. Spanish stations for Spanish speakers, their are stations for all kinds of people. For a WET the motive would be just because someone else does it not because it's a need for it. BET mostly show things blacks would watch, if their is a white station that blacks like watching then it would come on BET. BET has shows blacks like to watch, not a black only station.

The difference between BET and WET is one was form for a good reason and a need for one group to have shows they prefer to watch. The other station to form one only to see how the other group would react.

Others would just question their motive, they would not create a WET because they need it, but solely to see what the other group reaction would be.

Is their problem with those who speak out against injustice, or just with those who champion the cause of African Americans?

It may point to insensitivity, or racism.

In my opinion, many people are somewhat gutless and are simply afraid to say what they mean, because the are worried about being labeled racist, bigoted, sexist and so forth.

But, you must also concede that many times you will witness people being labeled as racist or bigoted or some other charge for voicing an opinion, even though it in no way could reasonably be considered to be racist.

Basically, I find that most people are too scared, are ill informed and far too willing to go along to get along.

It's not that their afraid of minorities, because for the most part they are not. It's that they don't want to be deemed as racist or ignorant by saying something stupid regarding a race.

Because most white people are meek and really haven't thought about things like you and I have.

Also WET would be cool in that it would be entertainment but without the token minority thrown in for "diversity's" sake.

FYI there was a pro-white organization that tried to organize relief for white families affected by hurricane Katrina but the aid was seized by the government. That is government anti-white racism if you ask me.

No not afraid just self conscious now. They think because of past sins that they had nothing to do with they have to pay. Who made them feel this way? Not themselves.
People do get mad if you call them black, I have heard it myself. It's good though that you are above that :-)
