Bizzarely duct tape was one of the most common substances found in the early universe. Leading to Doctor Loony McMad's theory that God stuck the universe together with duct tape.
When humans came along they worked out that duct tape was really handy for taping up ducts. Monkeys were invented two weeks later.

I believe the monkey came first, for without monkey, you wouldn't have anyone with the need to tape anything up. On the other hand, the qualities of duct tape have such transcendental qualities that I fail to see how a tribe of primates could resist worshipping such a worthy god. Indeed, while this debate has been raging for centuries, it is worth observing the symbiotic relationship between 21st-Century primate (colloqiually known as a 'roadie') and his blessed duct tape, also known as gaffa tape. Gaffa by name, gaffa by nature. Each one knows who is boss of the other.

Well that is a puzzler, due to the fact that duct tape is made from matted monkey hair, and the glue is actually enzymes which are essential in the mass production of the lesser known Amazonian batbike vampire monkey

Duct tape (or gaffer tape) came first as it is the "force" from Star Wars as it has a light side and a dark side and it holds the universe together.
Monkeys dont really exsist they are made in a factory in Swindon (UK) by duct taping several hamsters together.
