Scanning a document turns it into a picture of a document. A picture is not a word processing document.

In order to get the picture, and convert it into a word processing document, you have to run a seperate conversion process called OCR (Optical character recognition). Depending on the format of the original document, this can be a problematic process. If the document isn't too large, it's often a lot faster and easier to simply retype the original into a word processing document.

If you're dead set on trying to use the scan technique then you need to use the OCR software that came with your scanner (usually there's an OCR packaged with the scanner).

If there isn't, or you can't find it, then I'm afraid you'll need to retype.

As you scanned it, it's probably an uneditable bitmap image. You need OCR (optical character recognition) software which will scan and save as a Word or .txt file. Omnipage is good, but I'm sure you can get free ones.

Ehhh you should have done that before scanning depends on what file format you have those documents you have it scanned but usually the procedure is kinda tricky... Better re-edit those docs then re-scan it....

When you scan, you end up with file saved as picture. you have to have a soft ware that let you scan text, then you will be able to edit it.
