After I have my baby where does the umbilical cord go on the mothers side? At what stage do I find out if babys ok? (I'm 10 weeks now and not yet been checked out) Is it still safe now to ahem snuggle ;-)
And any general advice would be great as I'm a first time mummy.
Thanks Danni

the umbilical cord is attached to the placenta. you will deliver it shortly after the baby, yes you can have sex. but you really need to see a doctor for prenatal care. its very important

It's okay to be nervous especially first timers. I'm pregnant with my 3rd, and I'm still a little nervous.First of all go see an ob/gyn. They will do blood work, pap smear, and a breast exam. The sooner you see a Dr., the better of you'll be.
You only go once a month until the last trimester when you go every 2 weeks.
The umbilical cord is attached to the placenta, where the baby will get everything it needs to survive in the womb. Eveything will come out at childbirth.
They will probably do an ultra sound at 5-6 months. Here they can check the heart beat, the breathing, how big the baby is, etc. ect.
Yes it's okay to have sex. It's not going to harm your baby in any way. You might have to figure out different positions as your tummy gets bigger, but hey, that's always fun.
Don't worry, you'll be just fine. Congratulations, and good luck.
Oh, and get the book "What to Expect When You are Expecting."

The umbilical cord is attached to the placenta, which is delievered after the baby is born. (its not nearly as difficult because it's like a sac of liquid, so many women never even mention this part of the birthing process) Once the whole thing is out of your body, I believe it is actually discarded by the hospital. the only part of the cord that will be saved is the blood, and only if you specifically decide to donate the blood or bank it for your own use later. A normal time to have your first check up is around eight weeks, but some providers wait until 12 weeks. This means you are past your first trimester and your risk for miscarriage drops considerably. Your doctor will probably try to hear the baby's heartbeat around this time with a doppler (a really really sensitive microphone that is placed up to your belly) The heart beat will help reassure you. Around 18-24 weeks the doctor will most likely prescribe and ultra sound-- then you can actually see your little one squirming around. Finally, yes, it is still safe to have sex, it is safe to have sex right up until the time of delievery unless your doctor tells you other wise. You cannot hurt the baby by having sex, achieving orgasim, or "poking" it with a penis. So enjoy the first few months if you can, and certainly enjoy your intimacy while it lasts because as you get larger and larger your sex drive will probably go down. Best of luck to you.. if you have any questions at all be sure to talk to your doctor. it is always better safe than sorry.

First of all, you should see a doc or midwife ASAP to ensure good prenatal care. They will run the appropriate tests and let you know the condition of your growing child...

The umbilical cord attaches the baby to the placenta which is attached to the inside of the mother's uterus. After delivering a child, the placenta is also delivered along with the umbilical cord.

And as long as you are having a normal pregnancy with no complications, it is still safe to "snuggle".

congratulations
The cord is attached to the bag that the baby was using whilst inside you, when it comes out you will probably think you are having another baby, but it does come out, they usually give you an injection to make sure it all comes out intact, otherwise there could be problems
You usually have a scan at about 16-20 weeks but you will see a doctor before then and have checks every 4 weeks at first.
Yes it is safe to ahem snuggle - in fact you will probably find that your libido goes through the roof, but talk to your partner about it as he may think he'll hurt the baby by pleasing you. This can have strange side effects on him.

The umbilical cord is attached to the placenta which you will also have to deliver a few minutes after giving birth to your baby. You should find out at your first Dr appt how your baby is doing. And at your first ultrasound they'll check everything to make sure everything lookds normal. It's completely safe to "snuggle" unless your Dr says otherwise. Just try not to stress about little things.

how old ru? the umbilical cord is attached to the placenta which you push out after the baby's born....they generally do a full check up at 20 weeks to check the heart and arteries ect..though you do get a scan at 12 weeks to check for downs. and the last one is up to u but you won't be harming the baby... read a book and find out otherwise there's a lot more that may come as a surprise

ok most things can be seen on first sono around 14-16 weeks you can usually find out the sex and they can see if the baby is developing properly. sometimes you will get a second sono around 26-28 weeks along to check baby progress then once the baby is born they do a full exam to tell you if everything is ok, at stated above u will deliver umblical cord and yeah snuggling is ok till the last day as long as you are not considered high risk. You need to get to the doc asap to be looked at and you should be able to hear the heart beat at your visit when you go and that is exciting good luck and congrats

the umbilical cord is attached to the placenta and will come out after the birth, hence the name "afterbirth". ther is an inital cursery exam in the delivery room and then baby is checked out by a pediatrician. this holds true unless you are having a difficult pregancy where you and or the baby may be in some trouble. in that case the baby is taken to nicu(neonatal intensive care unit). if you are asking how do you find out if the baby's ok while still in the womb, sonograms and an amnosynthesis test can check for certain birth defects. you can have sex up until you deliver unless otherwised advised by your Dr or until it is uncomfortable for you.

first of all, congratulations
after baby is born and they cut the umbilical cord, it slithers back into you, until you push it back out a few minutes later. isn't it amazing how the body works. you will know the babies alright at the beginning of The 5th month. that is usually when the chances of a miscarriage are not as high as in your first 15 weeks or so.
my doctor told me it was OK to have sex during pregnancy and that its actually comes in handy in the last 3 months because it helps to loosen things up and clear a pathway. labor pains though are indescribable. you can choose whether you want the pain medicine or not. i didn't have any and i was only 17, but i got through it. before you know it will be over and you ll have your baby in your arms. believe it or not, you ll feel no pain after wards, unless you have to get stitches or you have a c- section. good luck with baby
