I used to read a lot before I had the children. I read fast though, a novel in an evening. I would often do this either in front of the TV for the couple of hours before bed. Back then I only did one lot of washing up a day, one to two loads of laundry a week etc.
These days, I'm lucky to manage a book a month. My daughter does Ballet, and I tend sit in the car and read for the hour lesson as I don't have time to get home and back.
Having said that, I read to my kids every day. The eldest is three and has just started nursery, so if kids books counted, I read a book nearly every day...even if it does have only 12 pages! Unfortunatly she normally wants me to read it over and over again, in one session.

Read, read and read. I book can take you anywhere. I love a good book. I have friends that check out 10-12 novels at a time. There is nothing really that important on the tube or computer that can compete with a good book. Make time.

I'm an English teacher and reading for pleasure has become a bit of a busman's holiday - I can't read at all in term time - when every set of coursework is an 80 page book... Luckily I get to read with kids, which is a bit like reading on your own - as you tend to be the only one listening anyway!

I read 2 books a week. I use public transport, which helps as I can read whilst travelling. It's really difficult to do that when driving.
I don't watch much television any more, in favour of reading and I can't sleep without having read a few pages.

Between myself and my wife, we have over 3000 books, and a library of 3600 monthly commentaries. I get 25 e-mails per week that summarise findings in Defence, Medicine and in the Culinary arts.
We are selective as to what we watch in TV - about 4 programmes per week. We do not play music as a background in our home-we only listen to music when we wish to appreciate it.
We read books on the bus and on the train. I even read periodicals whilst sitting on the bog. We have not got quite so bored with each other that we read books whilst making love, although I read a lot of magazines when I was in my early teens and alone with my fist!
Make time to read. Kill the external media for a bit, and enjoy.

I dont know if it is just me but I am so busy I often wonder how people find the time to read, I really am not that much of a TV watcher, so I am always wondering about that. I go to bed a lot and read a couple of pages in the bible and I get so sleepy..............it seems reading tends to make me tired.........

I always try to read a bit of a book every night when I go to bed before going to sleep. This is MY time and I don't get any distractions when trying to concentrate on the storyline!
