The theory is based on the observations indicating the expansion of space. Observations show that the universe has expanded from a state in which all the matter and energy in the universe was at an immense temperature and density (let's say, the universe was like a small very hard ball). Physicists do not widely agree on what happened before this, but the term Big Bang is used to refer to a point in time when the observed expansion of the universe started (as a sort of explossion).

Physicists are great and you have the talent to enjoy them! Don't be scare. The universe is a mistery for you to discover.

The familiar sound of a train whistle as it recedes into the distance is a consequence of the Doppler Effect. As the train moves away from the listener, the crests of the sound waves are stretched out or shifted, resulting in a lower pitch. The faster the train recedes, the more stretched out the waves become. The same holds true for any wave-emitting object--whether they be sound waves, light waves, or radio waves. Conversely, the wavelength of objects that are moving toward us are shorter than those emitted by an object at rest.

Atoms emit or absorb light in characteristic wavelengths: hydrogen, helium, and all the other atomic elements have their own spectrum signatures. In the early part of this century, Vesto Slipher was studying the spectra of light emitted from nearby galaxies. He noticed that the light coming from many galaxies was shifted toward the red, or longer wavelength, end of the spectrum. The simplest interpretation of this "redshift" was that the galaxies were moving away from us.

Hubble, (of Hubble Telescope fame) had been the first to establish that the universe included many other galaxies outside of our own, noticed something else: the galaxies were receding from us at a velocity proportional to their distance. The more distant the galaxy, the greater its redshift, and therefore the higher the velocity, a relation known as Hubble's Law.

The planets are spreading apart from the "big bang". The planets expand outwards from a certain midpoint. The universe is so big, As human beings, it would be very difficult to fathom it. The universe is still hypothetical situations. Nothing is written in stone, people are guessing educationally. Watching this series will inform you more upon the subject matter.

The universe does not expand but scientist say joust to keep science out of terms of religion.

In fact does not expand but it is getting smaller and smaller very fast.

the universe is created once now the material in it is getting older and the longer exist the near is destruction too.

the reason why people did`nt exist from begining of it and they wo`NT exist till the end of universe is becose it wuld be verry painfull.

imager a milion nuklear explosions hapenned till a little quighet place enough is reached to start life existing on earth. ahd how will it end doo you wana bee thair to witness that amigo.

and now how kan you know about universe if you do`nt accept religion (whatever confession) and that part scientist think do`nt fit in Science wile they are afrayd to admit it.

Bhy the whay the trouth hurts.
but is the trouth

nothing you can doo about it.

The expansion of the universe is a conclusion based on the observed red shift of light. I believe that this redshift is based on the passage of time and there is no expansion.

I comprehend :) Salo is disgusting (political message my ar*se) and Hostel is only an insult to decent movie-making! nicely in a similar vein as you Madeleine, I shall in no way watch 'A Serbian movie'. Ever. i've got examine the full plot synopsis on wikipedia and became transfixed, horrified and disgusted. i don't care what anybody says, that isn't needed. If a director became so clever in the 1st place, he'd truthfully have a stronger way of putting his factors in the process than only lots of rape, sodomy and necrophilia? i'll probable in no way watch 'I Spit on your Grave' the two, the two the unique and the remake. i'm not probable into the full sexual violence stuff. BQ: observed actual. That became a stable movie! shame in regards to the sequels. BBQ: thrilling question. Who am I to bypass judgement on human beings's viewing behavior? i'm going to would desire to have a think of on that one...and get lower back to you!

its good to be confused!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the universe is believed to be born out of an atom known as the primeval atom...and is known to have been expanding since then!

the universe expands just as much as our perception expands...there can't be an end to the universe just as there can't be an end to imagination...

when you are looking into the sky...you are looking into yourself..

its the mind that is perceiving the universe...the universe lies in your mind...the world is your perception...

the universe is an endless discovery...of consciousness...of the cosmic mind...its limitless n infinite n ever expanding!
