The cost is sliding scale. Each diocese determines the upper amount that you should pay (which is a fraction of the true cost) and by Canon Law, your ability to pay determines how much you are actually charged. Remember, by Catholic Law, if you cannot pay, the diocese must give the process to you for free.

Annulment is very tricky

A reason for annulment is called an diriment impediment to the marriage. Prohibitory impediments make entering a marriage wrong but do not invalidate the marriage, such as being betrothed to another person at the time of the wedding; diriment impediments, such as being brother and sister, or being married to another person at the time of the wedding, prevent such a marriage from being contracted at all.

Such unions are called putative marriages.

I don't know where you are but in Brazil, you go to your Priest and ask who is the responsible for such things. Then you have to prepare a "dossiê" that is, documents, witnesses, you will have to write down all your story, since you were a child, what led you to marry this person. Mine took about 6 years - yes, 6 longs years, but I got it and it cost about 700 am dollars 6 years ago, if I am not mistaken. But again, I am in South America, Brazil, but Catholic Church seems to be the same all over the world. I have heard that in the USA things are faster.
