Only if it has a static magnetic field from a permanent magnet. Otherwise, you would need a separate current source to generate the static field. Also, if the motor doesn't have a simple mechanical commutator, you will need some mechanism to choose when and how to connect the various coils to the output.

Definitely yes,
you can use DC motor as a Generator by manually cranking it.
However efficiency may not be same as that of a DC Generator for other practical reasons.

As kids many years ago we used to couple the meccano clockwork motor directly to the meccano electric motor and it would light a small bulb for about half a minute

You will get a full wave rectified alternating voltage. Basically take the absolute value of a AC voltage. In order to get a DC voltage out of it you'll have to hook up some very large capacitors which will smooth out the voltage.
