km+5x=6y; again, you want to isolate the variable, so you subtract 5x from both sides to get km=6y-5x, then to get m by itself, you divide both sides by k, to get m=(6y-5x)/k

7y = am+z
y=(am + z) / 7

explanation:

add 4y to both sides of the equation, so in the left part now we have 3y + 4y + z and in the right only am because -4y +4y =0

now we add z to both sides of the equation, we do this because we want to keep all the y s in the left and the rest in the right

after adding z to both sides we have 3y + 4y= am +z

3y + 4y is 7y so now we have 7y = am+z

to have only y on the left side we divide both sides with 7 ( because 7y / 7 = y)

so we'll have y=(am + z) / 7


the second is more simple:

substract 5x from both sides:

km= 6y -5x

divide both sides to k

m= (6y - 5x) / k

NOTE: k cannot be 0

With these types of math problems you combine like terms (like in the first problem the 3y and 4y after you decide which side is the better side to do so, depending on what you are solving for. Your goal is to isolate your y on one side because that is the one you are solving for in the first problem. In the second one, isolate the m which is part of km on one side by itself. in first question its "y" you have to make separate from other terms and coefficients, similarly "m" in second question.
3y+z=am-4y
3y+4y=am-z
7y=(am-z)
y=(am-z)/7

km+5x=6y
km=6y-5x
m=(6y-5x)/k
