I work at a bank and see a lot of money all day. One thing that I noticed is that there are often little stamped images on the bills, usually on the back. There are all kinds of little pictures and I was wondering if there is a specific significance... They just look like they were applied with an ordinary rubber stamp, a few cms in size.

They have no special significance. Just private individuals putting their own marks on their money. The most commom one is www.wheresgeorge.com, which is a web site that allows you to follow the movements of a particular banknote identified by serial number.
