Amsterdam to Cologne is best travelled by (very high speed) train... You CAN fly there, but it will take at least the same amount of time and probably more,it will involve a LOT more hassle and is definitely a lot more expensive, not to mention more destructive to the environment... check http://www.ns.nl (Duch rail) and http://www.db.de (German rail)... Taking the train will cost about 40 to 50 Euro at the most... same goes for the Cologne-Bonn trip

the train ride on the very high speed train (ICE) http://www.db.de/site/hochgeschwindigkeit/de/start.html will take less than 3 hours... on a regular train it will take about double that... if you fly, the flight will take about an hour but getting to the airport, checking in etc etc will take a lot longer and you have to carry your bags and all that....

You could also just take the ICE from Amsterdam to Bonn, it will take about 5 hours... just about the same amount of time it would take to get from the center of amsterdam to the center of Bonn if you would fly, maybe a little longer, maybe not (if flight is delayed which could easily happen)... The ICE is definitely more comfortable and you get a great view of the country/countries

you can research your trip on http://www.ns.nl

I tried researching the trip and the trip time on the ICE (german speed train) is 2:34hrs.

It looks like trains leave amsterdam every two hrs starting at 8am

The cost i came up with was 38euros but that may change in december.
