No. People are often faced with outside or environmental barriers or impediments. Sometimes they have the resources and support to overcome them; sadly many dont; which is why people suffer in famines, distarous storms; dangerous environments, etc. I do not think people would choose suffering, torture or disease.

That is an interesting point, but one that would entail one to believe in life before and after death. So if one chose to believe this, then yes it can be a possiblity. I for one have never thought of it this way. While you can make choices while alive that can greatly affect your life while you are on earth, I wonder can they also affect your life after earth? (not just heaven and hell, but in how you will live in these places if you choose to believe in them).
I would have to say a small part of me believes this, for the simple fact that I tell my son each day that he was a sould destined for my life. Too many times I mis-carried, and each time I knew it was my son, so when time came and I was pregnant again, I knew he was still there sitting on my shoulder waiting to be born.

Yes, I believe we choose our life, and therefore our strife, before we enter the womb. Everyone has troubles. WE chose to live in the midst of a decaying Africa, the terrorism, the crises everywhere that affects us.

Mankind has free will. You live life with the choices you made.
Good choice= Better life
Bad choice= Worse life.
You make the most out the hand thats been dealt to you.

I personally don't think that you choose the struggles that your going to have in life and I don't think science can tell you that.
