Reading the past is easy, because it has already occurred; reading the future requires luck and insight.

The Present is a manifestation of the past based on a presumption of the future, thus sense it cannot exist outside of that dialectic it may very well be intrepreted as a parallel deminsion. String theory argues for parallel universes but that would imply concurrent rather than consecutive perceptions!

The past is easy, you can watch a videotape.
The future is aukward, we can guess or predict it based on the present situation.
We can predict that an object thrown from a window will reach the ground in a few seconds, but we can't predict who was coming out of the ground door to be hit in the head.
This is to illustrate that there are too many variables that we ignore or can't measure in order to predict even the nearest future.

We know the past because records have been kept.
It is sometimes possible to make educated guesses about the not-too-distant future based on the past, the present, and statistical models (for example, tomorrow's weather).
If someone tells you he or she can "read" the future using some kind of psychic or mystical powers, it is a lie. It's a lie even if the person telling it believes it.
If they tell you once they are "reading" the future, tell them to leave you alone. If they tell you again, hit them in the crotch.

It would require the power of nothing you have seen before. You would have to send mind waves faster than the speed of light so you could catch a hole in the space-time continuum. Then it would be a simple matter to get the waves into the future and boom-your mind is connected with the future.

I am one of those people who think that our future can be somewhat controlled by the actions we take. There are some events that take place that alter our course of life that we have no control. But as humans we keep failing to watch for warning signs so that we can change what we are doing to avoid certain situations. We need to watch history to see what led up to certain events. For example... in 1917 WW1 started and after it was finished the world leaders looked at the horrible events that took place then. They formed the league of nations in order to prevent it from happening again. But 20+ years later the warning signs started to appear but world leaders ignored the signs and we had WW2 after that war the League of nations changed to The United Nations. Now in my opinion the warning signs are there again and world leaders are ignoring them. WW3 just might be around the corner if world leaders fail to take action to change things

I don't think most things in the future are knowable. However, probabilities can be calculated. Also, predictable things like the Earths orbit can be reasonably expected to be fairly constant.
The past is much easier to read. History books are helpful.
