You will receive a premed first and will never feel the IV insertion. And, by the way, when done by a skilled nurse, it's virtually painless. Just a small pinprick.

Just a tiny bit.
What hurts more is worrying and being scared.
Ask if you can have a friend come distract you when they put it in if you are afraid and worried, or if you can listen to music (like on an ipod)
Tell the nurse also, that you are afraid that it will hurt, ususally they are very understanding and kind.

All you will feel is a small prick that's all.. Unlike some antibiotics anesthetics do not give a burning sensation. I.V. anesthetics are given only for induction of anesthesia.

Not a big deal. Just breathe deeply and remain calm. I hate needles, but I have had this done several times. I look away and focus on deep breaths and I do fine. Once the IV is in and they start pumping the groovy drugs, you won't remember a thing!

No....don't worry about it.

Just don't move your arm around a lot. It only hurts if it has been in for days and days.

It also might might might hurt when they pull the tape off when they take the IV out, but it isn't the IV that is the problem!

Don't worry honey its not that bad, like any injection its a sharp scratch for a second then you won't feel it.. and if you've got a good surgical team they'll distract you anyway.. good luck, you'll be fine

Not really, if you have a good nurse she will put it in and you won't feel a thing. Maybe a little stick, that is it.
