If we search our hearts and minds we see that there is battle raging all the time. We constantly decide and choose what is good for us, and what is not. Sometimes we make right decisions sometimes we make wrong ones. But if we know and stay mindful of what in us is best and the best in all things then we can always know what is good for us.
There can be various different levels and ways of being conscious. Some people need reason whereas others need love and care in human conduct. Some people appreciate things of beauty while others see God in human sufferings and pain and in our resolve to alleviate them.
We learn to appreciate many things in life. We realise that everything has a function and a purpose, and purposes merge to point to common objectives. We ask - what is the purpose of our life then? And what is the purpose of all this? We know what we know is not all that can be known and that is there. We see that the world immediately around us is meaningfully recognisable. And we ask – what else is there where we have not reached yet?
If we plan for just one day, we realise that it has been difficult to keep up with what we had in our mind - that there have been many things cropping up to cross our purpose. If the following day we plan even harder yet again we realise that it is impossible to plan for future with a hundred percent certainty. There will always be things unpredictability cropping up in the way.
The will behind all the things of the world and thus their function and so the entire universe is not in human control. It is even beyond our understanding. And neither we see a being fully with our reason that is behind wheel of creation of which we are but hapless residents. We have questions for reason, and understanding for love.
If on the other hand we do no displace our selves intellectually to ask – who is God? Or where is God. If we instead ask – who are we? Or who am I? We place ourselves at the centre of inquiry and include ourselves into our search for Truth. The big question like your can not be answered exclusive of our selves. For is there is God then are we not in Him kingdom?

How can god be known?
You need to tell people how old you are, if you're under 20, then you're just naive, if you're older, you need to start reading up on religion from all sources. Take a course in logic. Think for yourself. As a matter of fact even if you're under 20, it doesn't matter; go get some books on Philosophy and read, read, read.
Belief in something that has absolutely no proof of existence by anything but blind faith is not logical. Bone up.

To suggest that God can be 'known' implies that he is within our intellectual grasp. I think that a person can have a relationship with God but I think you cannot 'know' the mind of God. It's a very egocentric view of God and of our place in the universe.

Depends who you ask. Possible answers:
1) Through faith - one simply believes in God and accepts that belief as true.
2) Through scripture - one accepts certain texts as originating from God and accepts those as true.
3) Through works - One observes nature and comes to believe it is God's creation.
4) Through reason - one reflects on the nature of God and concludes he must exist (Proofs of the existence of God have been written throughout the Middle Ages and Renaissance).
5) And finally, for most believers, a mix of some, or all of the above.

Apart from the advice you have already been given, I would suggest you go somewhere quiet and beautiful and just sit and listen and be aware. Nature is God's creation and will speak volumes without all the **** that people try to feed you in God's name.
Totally agree with easy peasy.

You really DO know Him already (He is our BELOVED LORD AND CREATOR OF ALL!) but you forgot and abandoned Him in a rebellious moment of "believeing you are "independent", and thus you are here on this SLEEPING planet of rascals and duality! However, fear not! Your spirit-soul is within your heart with Him even now, so you need not be "liberated" from the earth or this material cosmos to get to know Him. The "real" eternal you is His friend and beloved already, as you are NOT your temporary body or your ego-personality or the story you are riding within) He is there within this vehicle cage waiting for you to awaken from this terrible dream-illusion and reconnect with Him deep within. But we are such rascals and so enamored by the material world of matter "outside of us and gratifying our senses!" We want to play, control and enjoy this temporary matter of this DEAD material world INSTEAD of having an intimate relationship with Him at our eternal Home. But that is our free will, and when we are serious enough, committed enough, sincere enough, tired of all this mess enough, then the process of purification and awakening can begin. Yes, God can be known in many ways! But a relationship with Him is NOT cheap and one must be seriously committed and sincerely seeking Him! It is a long journey, but worth it! Father, forgive us, we know not what we do and we forgot you! Help us to awaken and return to Your Feet!

God is a part of every human being. You just know him by knowing your self. God in you is alive as long as you can reason out what is right to do and what is not. If one can not choose the right and wrong or ethical thinking in your mind dies then god in your self is replaced by the demon.

Watching a sunset, good sex, standing on a mountain, swimming in a lake... all things that can bring you to a state of mind where you are awake to the truth about things. That Everything is connected, the universe is one and we are all God.
If we could be in that state all the time we'd probably be enlightened. But we are not, we are habitually stuck in a rut of closed-mindedness. 'In search of the miraculous' is a helpful book.

it depends on what you mean know, if you mean in all totality then this is impossible as god is beyond all knowledge and understanding.but if you are talking of something short of that then there are a number of ways, they can be by faith, by studying God's words, by studying his works, by contemplation and meditation and finally by meeting him(dying).
but if you don't believe in Him in the first place then it is not possible because how do you get to know about some one or thing that you don't believe in.
well wheather you believe in Him or not.
God bless, Gabe
