qualitative data is more in depth, rather than finding out how MANY people do something, or think something, it tries to find out WHY they do it - what motivates them, what their feelings are towards things etc.
quantitative data works more by asking simple questions to alot of people - they can find out for example, how many people do a certain thing etc, but doesnt go any deeper than this to find reasons, anomalies etc.
qualitative data can help produce new ideas and hypotheses to test that the researcher hadn't thought of, whereas quantitative can test existing theories.
in short, qualitative provides a few detailed answers whereas qualitative provides more superficial data but alot of it.

Do you mean Qualitative and Quantitive, in Science?
Both are important because each sometimes you only have the oppurtunity to do one of them, and each will, in it's own way, describe the chemical.

You mean quantitative and qualitative. One is how many subjects were studied and one is the depth & accuracy of the study.
