They don't always wear red. The Chinese resturants usually have a lot of red because red means good luck in their culture. It's also used for weddings and holidays. Maybe, the Chinese people that you always see wearing red just want good luck for something or they like the color. I hope that answers your question.

If one's exposure to Chinese people is limited to TV coverage of a celebration or a big occassion, it's true that you get to see many Chinese women dressed in red because red is a lucky and happy colour to Chinese.
But Chinese just wear whatever colours they like on ordinary days.

ok i am azn(chinese)the chinese people always dress in red cuz of this story: a LOOOONNNGGG time ago on every chinese new year, a big, montrous monster would come in villages on china so lots of people prepare 2 hide. but when a buddist came when everyone was hiding..he asked a old woman wut was going on and the woman told him! so that night the buddist thought of a plan and when the monster was there he wore red and popped friecrackers and the monster was scared so the monster ran away and never came back!
so that's why the chinese wears red! and cuz the commusnist party(the chinese government) wore red 2 symbolize it

They don't always dress in red, that is a stereotype. However, during holidays and special occasions many Chines dress in red because it symbolizes status, good luck, wealth, royalty, and the blood of the countrymen who died in war.

We don't always dress in red, we only wear it on special occasions like Chinese New Year. It's because red is considered a lucky colour, whereas black should not be worn on occasions like that. =)

They dont always wear red.
Red is usually a sign of good luck. It's a chinese thing.
That's why for the Chinese New Years, the envelope is red.
They put money in there and call it "Good luck money.."
Wierd and strange..yes I know.

The Chinese consider the color red to signify stature or royalty. It also signifies good luck or hope within their culture. Very much like European cultures view purple as being a color of royalty.
