What does this mean? I cannot talk to a hand as they don't have ears nor can I exchange a conversation with them, so why must I talk to the hand?

It means they don't want to listen to what you are saying.

That's the point -- it means the person is no longer listening to you, and you might as well be talking to their hand.

The saying is usually accompanied by a gesture -- holding the hand up towards you, palm out, as in "stop!" If you visualize this, you should get the point of "talk to the hand" -- it means "I'm not listening."

The remake of "The Incredible Journey" did a variation on this; during an argument between the Siamese cat (voiced by Sally Field) and the young, goofy dog (voiced by Michael J. Fox), at one point the cat decides she's had enough. So she turns away from the dog, holds her tail in the air, and says "Talk to the butt."

really stupid question, but heres an answer. It's sarcastic. It means i'm done talking to you. Because like you said you cant talk to a hand, so in other words that person is telling you to get away.

That means the person is trying to ignore you and don't want you talking to them. So they say talk to the hand. and not them.

It means "I'm not listening, you're wasting your breathe. Talking to me is like talking to a hand. Buzz off moron." it is actually quite rude, but I remember thinking it was so clever. How things change..........
