Please do not think that I'm against homosexuality or downing it, I'm just interested in other people's views about it? And, no, I'm not gay, for anyone who wants to know.

Homosexuality is as old as the Human race, in most cultures world wide it has been, and is, seen as perfectly acceptable. Greece, Rome, Japan, the Celts, the Goths, Native American peoples on both continents, many of the African peoples, the only cultures that condemn homosexuality are those that condemn all forms of sexuality, which is why societies with a high homosexuality rate tend to also have higher birth rates. Historically, homosexuality has only condemned by societies founded on Judeo/Islamic/Christian doctrine. It has no effect on society as such, since gay people are still people, each with their own gifts and flaws. It is a chronic problem in our society that people have chosen to categorize others solely on their sexual preferences as if that were the totality of who they were. Was Michelangelo a Homosexual or an Artist? Was Rock Hudson a homosexual or an Actor? Was T.E. Lawrence (of Arabia) a Homosexual, a Masochist, or a Soldior? Why must it be a case of picking one or the other, can't they just be people? A person's sexual orientation is one aspect of they are, and it's far from the most important, what about things like honesty, integrety, loyalty, professional competence, gentleness, and compassion for others? These have nothing to do with what a person does in bed, are they, then, irrelevant? People of genius occur in all parts of human society, what they do in bed doesn't lesson their ability or the contributions they make to the world. We should all start acknowledging that.

Homosexuality is such an issue because it is publicly visible. People are uncomfortable when they see two men or two women lovers in public. Much like gluttony. A thin person who eats a very large meal is said to have a healthy appetite, but a fat person is called a glutton even while eating small portions. If what we see makes us uncomfortable we think it must be wrong and because the Bible says what it does about homosexuality, people think they are valid in their treatment of the people of homosexuality. However, this is NOT how God views homosexuality. The act is sin. The person is a sinner, but EVERY person is a sinner! Jesus Christ's accomplishment on the cross is for the homosexual as well as the man or woman who lusts after the opposite sex in their heart.

It's just another way of being - natural for those who are - and I don't get why so many make such a big deal about it. The only impact on society is the one made by all the hateful anti-gay loud mouth idiots. Otherwise, not much - lots of straight people are artistic and open, and lots of cultures bring flavor to the world.

I don't know why it's so big deal. I think homosexuality is a normal and usual part of our everyday life. It appeared together with the world and existed with it. It's just now it's become more public.

I think and believe it's perfectly normal, natural and has no ill effects on society.

Furvent, Fanatical Fundamentalism on the other hand, is terribly detrimental on society. Always has been, always will be. It only continues attitudes of hatred, intolerance, arrogance, fear and ignorance in it's followers...which unfortunately are a very loud and obnoxious bunch.

I am sorry to say this question brought out precisely the response I expected to see from it. Not as many but just as offensive. Homosexuals do not attempt to convert heteros homosexuals are not the usual pediphiles 90 % of them are straight. We also do not normally do beastiality that is more for straights as well.
It is tiresome when straights try to answer questions about homosexuality just to show off thier ignorance.

Without us, there would be no Da Vinici's Mona Lisa, no Michelangelo's David, no Shakespear, no Sappho, no Virginia Wolf and no Socrates so you tell me what kind of effect we've had.

i don't think it is natural for the same sex to be with each other;especially two men. i cannot picture two MAN-made bodies together. It grosses me out ~~ that is just my personal opinion. I also believe that it is against God's will; and i believe, personal belief, that that is how hiv/aids keeps transmitting through their sexual practices. MY PERSONAL OPINION.

Well, I'm very gay-friendly. And I'm really wondering about my own sexuality. I call myself a straight person but I can't resist a wonderful woman.

I think it's great. You should be allowed to love WHOEVER you want. Everyone says we should love people for who they are not what they look like, so why should it matter if it's two guys or two girls or any other combination that people would consider not "normal". I think that this country needs to start practicing what it preaches.
