Wow, 13 is great age for Halloween Costumes - no more barbie or princesses, you can actually be something interesting and you are putting thought into it early enough to do something really cool!

I guess it really depends on what you are interested in -

You could go for something classic - Bride of Frankenstein (Great Hair possiblilities)

Something Fun - A Hershey's Kiss (Know anyone who sews?)

Something Feminine/Sexy - This can be toned down or up as parents would allow - Cleopatra (Nice Makeup Challenge)

Something Socially Significant - Dress elegantly and wear a sign that says "Please don't feed the models" or something similar illustrating a problem that you are aware of or concerned about. (This one is probably better for a party than for trick or treating!)

Somthing Politically Pointed - Dress as a politician involved in a scandal, this works best if the scanal is historically famous or very recent / local. For example - if a mayor/senator/whatever is on trial for taking bribes, dress in their classic 'look' and have Monopoly money coming out of all of your pockets and wherever else you can... This one really depends on how politically aware you and your friends are... some 13 yr olds are, some are not - don't worry if you are not... you will be in a few years! =)

Then you could always just dress nicely and Trick or Treat for UNICEF - http://www.unicefusa.org/site/pp.asp?c=hkIXLdMRJtE&b=1706865

You might also decide that this year or next it would be more fun to start decorating your porch 'all out' and (gently) scaring the little ghosties and ghoulies that come trick or treating. Thirteen is such an in-between age to be!

Have Fun!

Jen

One year, I went as a skunk - what ever you choose - be original and creative - and use the second hand store in your town to get supplies - no costume should cost a lot of money - have fun!

I'm fifteen and want to be Jack Sparrow, but I don't know where to get a costume. As long as it's a good costume not a crappy one then it'll rock!!!
