Are you an American? If so, that means that YOU believe the lies that the gov't feeds you. Mebbe the idea that by smoking lots of pot and playing hippie drums circles you can change the world is just another lie, fed to you to keep you from doing anything that might actually change the situation. Why not vote? Why not run for office? Write letters to Senators? You gotta call them on things you don't like, rather than whining on Yahoo! answers to a bunch of people who can't do anything besides agree with you and make you feel better about yrself. Do something active, and try to actually change what you don't like.

The only people who believe the US government are the Bush supporters. I wouldn't say Republicans because they are starting to see the lies as well. It's just too bad they all voted for him to stay another 4 years.

It sucks seeing your government say we are fighting to save our freedom and as they say it they make laws that limit our freedoms. The Bush supporters are so stubborn and won't listen to anything you say. They blame every problem on Democrates, the media, and Supreme Judges, when for the last 6 years this countries been domintated by a republican party in all 3 branches of government.

If you have been reading Yahoo Answers, you can see how deeply divided we are over our Government and the situation not just in Iraq, but globally. You will see that we disagree on the great debts our governments policies have created and that some are trying to create an American Christian Theocracy, while others are violently opposed (thanks be!).
You will see that Americans are more divided than anytime since the Civil War, and it's not over yet! All of us don't believe the great lies fed to us, and there's no backing down on either side until we face the disaster our government has created.

The American people do not believe the lies their government feed to them. The majority of Americans are as aware of world affairs as the rest of us - problem is, we never get to hear your average American. I recommend you watch The Daily Show on More4 at 8.30pm Mon-Fri with Jon Stewart. It's where most Americans get their news and info.

Probably because in one way or another, Americans elect their government. This is true whether one votes, or chooses not to vote - election occurs all the same. So Americans really have no choice but to believe the government they elected, since to do otherwise would be to disbelieve themselves.

No I don't beleve they do.For example look at 9/11. over 40% of Americans now think their Government were responsible for it. And if you follow the link below you can get a DVD for £1.65 showing how.
The trouble is, the average American doesn't have a voice because the media is SO CONTROLLED.

not all Americans believe -- some do, some don't -- depending on what is said. furthermore -- the government does not always tell lies. sometimes it does, other times it does not. you have to distinguish between the red line or the border line -- that is why we have something called "brains" in our constitution.

Only the top 5% believe the lies as it keeps them at the top. Americans in the remaining 95% are not happy but they become fiercly patriotic when challenged.
