HOW long does the world have to PAY for the sins of our Fathers?? Is it too much to ask for all people to set aside all hatred and stop the foolishness of what our fathers stupidity has brought upon us? FORGIVE AND FORGET!!! PAY IT FORWARD!!

Yes we can all get along. Its called "agree to disagree".
I am looking for real compasion in people. Not people who want to point out my faults.

While it would be a long and difficult road your way would seem to be the only logical one that can move humanity forward. Many of the wars across the world are based on tribal animosities which have been handed down over the generations. It is possible but would take one of the major world powers to push it.

The sins of the father are passed to the son...
Your question is deliberately vague. I like that. I saw that someone took the bait and chose the racial issue. Too funny.
I dont know what sins you are referring to, but the whole forgive and forget thing sounds too much like Rodney King's "cant we all just get along". The answer then is the same as it ever was...no.
Blame genetics, personalities, society, the news...take your pick- but someone's always doing something someone else doesnt like. Cant please everyone so why bother trying? ...pay it forward- this isnt a movie.
Be more specific about what "sins" you mean and we can give you a real answer.

I like your style, but unfortunately we don't live in a world were that kind of optimism works. Almost all of our civil liberties have blood spilled all over them. We as humans are violent people, it's in our nature and we fight for what we believe to be is right at the time. When some people spend all day thinking of ways to kill us because we are free and host Tupperware parties, it's hard to pay it forward. I wish everyone thought like you though, i really do. We have to protect what we feel is right... LOL

I would say forever. Good quote: "those who forget the past are condemed to repeat it."
Americans are very good at forgetting what we did to the American Indian (who was neither American nor Indian). We even carved the faces of four presidents into the side of a mountain on property (Mt Rushmore) that we stole from them via a broken treaty. Now they're getting payback by opening casinos and sucking up capital that might go elsewhere. I say bravo.
Americans are very good at forgetting what we did to Mexico in the 1800's. We pushed them off their land in the southwest United States and chased them all the way back to Mexico City. They never forgot nor will they forget. Now they're getting payback, and will eventually control the politics and economy of that region. Later in this century, they have a good shot at taking over the entire United States, through high birth rates on their part and low birth rates on our part. I say bravo.
Americans are very good at forgetting what we did to people of color. Now they're integrating into our society and starting to run their own show. They are very close to running the entire deep South. I say bravo.
Americans are very good at forgetting what we did to Japanese American citizens during World War II, who were rounded up by the tens of thousands and placed into camps. Meanwhile, Americans of German heritage got a free pass. Now the Japanese are bankrupting Ford, GM and Chrysler with great cars that are built to last and deliver value. I say bravo.
Americans are very good at forgetting what we have done in foreign lands around the world in order to get what we want. Through the CIA and other means, we have bribed, tortured and killed whoever got in our way. We managed to alienate Cuba and now Venezuela. We have also done a stellar job of alienating most of the Middle East. Contempt for us will further spread throughout the world during the remainder of this century.
Don't count on anyone forgiving us for past sins. Our victims remember what was done to them and they will pay back - just as the sun rises and sets. We and our ancestors played - now we and our children will pay.

I agree. I'm white, and in the case of slavery, my ancestors didn't even own slaves. They lived in the north and were Quakers, who were among the most ardent abolitionists. Punishing me, just because my skin is the same color as those who held slaves 150 years ago is prejudiced and unfair.

Evidently you are not a Christian. It's part of the doctrine of original sin that we are destined to pay for the sins of our fathers forever.
