I've known him for 2 years now and I've liked him for about a year but he lives in Spain and only has 2 months left at the school and then he'll never be coming back and it's just something I feel that I need to tell him (face to face) before he goes.

Telling a friend that you love them to their face takes way more courage than writing it in a note. You should plan a nice dinner or go to a movie with him and if your at the dinner tell him that you have something really important to tell him first kiss him and then tell him that you love him or if your at the movies you should take his hand during a romantic part of the movie (if there is one) and tell him how you feel and you never know what will happen=) So take the chance, the worst he can say is that he doesn't love you back.
