I am 12 years old so i think this advice will be most usefull. Try signing him up for an instument(i play piano), sports or after school activities such as the Boys and Girls club. It is just a phase because i was the same way recently. Honestly, i found friends near me, i rode my bike around, and i havent played video games in about 3 months

Get him into a sport or spend time with him so he want be wanting to play video games. If he has someone to do things with him he will get outside and forget the video games.

Buy him some books, take him in the backyard or the park and play catch, find some educational interactive computer games, coloring books or paint by numbers, snap together models, take him to a movie...

Watching a good children's movie, painting, getting him a play set where he can make things i.e. planes, houses, stations etc, cleaning the garden with him, you would be surprised how many young children love to get their hands in the warm earth and transplanting flowers, make them feel that they achieve something and they learn at the same time

Play board games with him, read with him, take him to the park, have friends over. Notice a theme here you have to be involved with him.

get him to go outside and play with the neighborhood kids that are his age, so then he'll be active and healthy.

coloring/drawing books, blocks, match-box cars, COMICBOOKS, and maybe an erector set or a train set!
