Albert Einstein was born in the southwestern most province of Germany called Baden Wurtemburg. He later moved to Switzerland and then to America. He was made an honourary citizen of Israel and even offered the presidency, which he declined

He was born in Ulm, Germany but decided to renounce his German citizenship when he was 17. Then a few years later, he because a Swiss citizen. In 1914, he also became a Prussian citizen but lost that citizen chip in 1933. He became an American citizen in 1940 all the while keeping the Swiss citizenship. At the time of his death, he still had both American and Swiss citizenship.

Originally Austrian. Then he moved to Germany. He left Germany shortly after Hitler took over because as a Jew and a smart person he knew he was in danger. He lived the rest of his life in the U.S.

As others have said, he was born in Germany. However, he became an American citizen in 1940. Therefore, his nationality was American (USA).
He also held Swiss citizenship (dual-national) through much of his adult life.
