I have a DELL Dimension E510
Windows XP Home
P4 - 3.00GHz
2.99 GHz, 248 MB RAM

Considering I need to purchase more RAM; what kind of RAM do I need? I Right-Clicked on "My Computer" & Properties...but it didn't tell me? SRAM? DRAM?

Where can I get some RAM DEALS? I am thinking of purchasing a Gig of RAM.

You DEFINITELY need more RAM. But what is more important to you - a stable computer using quality RAM or saving a few bucks and possibly crashing on a regular basis?

You can buy RAM - AND know it's correct using the selectors on these web sites. At worst, go there, print out the page (link above) and see if a local store can meet or beat the price (doubtful, but not impossible)

Well, first u need to know what motherboard (mobo) u have. Since u have a 3 GHz, im sure it shall support more RAM. But when u look at the mobo, u shall come 2 know if it supports 400 FSB or 533 FSB. U can also find the info in the mobo booklet u must have got. Then go in for a 512 MB DDR RAM (of the correct FSB) and just install it. It goes in only one way, match the notches, u dont want a broken RAM in ur hands. Ciao

DELL Dimension 510 uses a DDR2-400 modules which has 240pins. You may also use a DDR2-533 modules but once installed, it would work at DDR2-400 speed only. You can configure up to 4GB using 256, 512MB, and 1GB modules IN PAIRS. You may buy any good brand module like Kingston ValueRAM KVR533D2N4/512 [2 nos] to get 1GB installed. If you need perfectly suited module, please ask for Kingston KTD-DM8400/512 or KTD-DM8400A/512. Both are 512MB capacity modules exactly suitable for DELL Dimension E510 and exact replacement for DELL original parts A0375065 or A0375073 or A0388044.

a p4 3 GHZ could use a couple of different kinds.

The dell E510 uses:

This system is configurable and may ship with either DDR2-400 or DDR2-533. These modules may be mixed, however, when mixed they will default to DDR2-400. If you have the 3.0, you probably need the DDR2 400, check your bios setup screen and see if it says 400mhz or 533mhz.

MODULES MUST BE ORDERED AND INSTALLED IN PAIRS for Dual Channel mode.

Please note that If 4GB is installed, the recognized memory may be reduced to 3.5GB or less (depending on system configuration).

first. i have a dimension 5150, i'm guessing its just like the E510. the ram type is definitely pc2-4200, or ddr2 400. so...to get the best deal on a 1gb of ram...go to www.newegg.com! it has the best prices anywhere man!

i got a 1gb ram from newegg for only 75 bucks or so, but prices have been raised a bit.

You should first call Dell to ask them what type of memory is with your computer.. is it SDRAM, DDRAM, DDR2RAM.... if it is SDRAM ask the FSB if it is PC133 or PC266....... if DDRAM (which i think is your memory type) ask if it is PC333 or PC400... if DDR2RAM ask if it is PC533, PC667, etc... then you could buy memory that is compatible with your computer..... one GB of ram is the ideal number of ram to date.. but if you can add more than 1 gb then it would be better...

Let me make it simple, buy this, I've checked your specs and this will work:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820134030
Also take your old RAM out when you put the new ones in, your system will run faster than if you leave the old in and just add this.

it will be DDR RAM.
i would advise getting something like, ocz, geil, kingston etc, it depends on what u use the machine for, since its worth spending those extras bucks for good quality ram, rather than the cheap stuff.
