first call social sec. and get yourself an appointment to go in to talk to them. mainly because face to face it is easier to explain your situation, you will need proof that you are living elsewhere, alog with proof that you are indeed you.( i.d of some sort) you need to state clearly that they are using it for themselves, you are not signing the checks - they are, and that you are not recieving any monies from them. explain clearly why you recieve the checks. face to face insures you that you get their attention, as a phone call wouldnt. it also makes them aware that you are not just being "spiteful " and deciding to call for no real reason. also call up your local office of the irs. because they are frauding the government along with frauding the soc. sec. and thats against the law. explain to the irs that you are supposed to be recieving these checks and are not, they may not be able to help you at this point but because of the phone call their april taxes will be "red-flagged" and will be audited to make sure of any slip ups. they actually do not owe you the money - they owe the soc.sec the money back ( along with possible fines) and then the s.s. will send it on to you. even if you are under age , the soc you recieve should go to you, or the guardian you are living with. advise them asap. good luck.

You can always sue somebody but that rarely does anybody any good (other than the lawyers of course). They are your parents; try talking to them.

It seems to me like many many people would rather fight over table scraps instead of going out and finding their own food. Finding food in North America is not that difficult. What's difficult is controlling spending, managing relationships and finding self-esteem. (and of course they are all related)

If you work hard and spend wisely there will be no need to fight over money and whats more you will have something that you can't buy for any money - self-esteem... ...and on top of that you might repair your relationship with your family to the point where lawyers would never cross your mind.

If this is about disability benefits, or survivors benefits, then they are not supposed to spend the money on themselves if you are not their dependent. You should first call the social security administration to tell them about your new living arrangements.

I don't know about sueing them , but you could report them. That's going to complicate it a bit though , as far as you getting your money, but if i were you i'd probably report it.
