The U.S. is among the world's leading producers of several minerals, including copper, silver, zinc, gold, coal, petroleum, and natural gas; it is the chief exporter of food. Its manufactures include iron and steel, chemicals, electronic equipment, and textiles.

The economy is fueled by an abundance in natural resources such as coal, petroleum, and precious metals. However, the country still depends for much of its energy on foreign countries. In agriculture, the U.S. is a top producer of corn, soy beans, rice, and wheat, with the Great Plains labeled as the "breadbasket of the world" for their tremendous agricultural output. The U.S. has a large tourist industry, ranking third in the world, and is also a major exporter in goods such as airplanes, steel, weapons, and electronics.

Animal Lover's answers are good ones. You could also consider adding automobiles to the list of products manufactured in the U.S. There are hundreds, even thousands, of companies accross the country that play either direct, or indirect, role in bringing cars and trucks to market. These sources include automotive parts suppliers, machine shops, marketing firms, IT firms, and freight, shipping, and warehouse providers.

You could also mention that in our parent's day, nearly all common products were manufactured here in the U.S. Today, though, many of the product that were once made in America are now made overseas. This is a result of other countries being able to manufacture the products less expensively than can be done by U.S. companies.

This shift in manufacturing to foreign countries is due largely to the exobinate cost of labor in the U.S. U.S. labor is very expensive compared to that of lower-cost countries.

Because more and more of the products that we buy are now made overseas, the U.S. economy is rapidly shifting from a manufacturing economy to a service economy. Meaning that the majority of jobs, instead of being centered around maufacturing, they will be centered around providing services such as selling products and services (ie, retail outlets, consulting, technical services, insurance, food, medical, etc.).

Good luck with your paper!

well lets see we make several thing's. ie; trash cans, ford auto mobiles, not that the two are the same. Most ships are built in america, just remember this we export more than we import. If we was not to send our scrap metal to china or other countries in Asia there would not be much for them to export.
